El uno de agosto se reunieron varios políticos en las instalaciones que les facilitan las Cortes Generales para hablar de sus asuntos. Durante el acontecimiento el señor Mariano Rajoy, que también ejerce de presidente del Partido Popular, de diputado y de Presidente del Gobierno, dijo lo siguiente:
¿Se han pagado sueldos? Sí. ¿Se han pagado remuneraciones complementarias por razón del cargo? Sí. ¿Se han pagado anticipos o suplidos a justificar por gastos inherentes al desempeño del cargo? También, como en todas partes. Es de justicia. (Diario de sesiones del Congreso de los Diputados)
De forma que acuso recibo: los pocos españoles que cobramos sólo un sueldo quedamos enterados.
